The research paper titled, ‘When bigger is not always better: Exploring the size-dependent nature of the sustainability reporting-firm valuation relationship’ won the best paper award at the 7th International Conference on Advances in Business (ICAB) held on December 7-8 at the University of Dubai. The paper was presented by Prof Rohit Prabhudesai. The paper has been co-authored alongside Prof Rohit Prabhudesai (Goa Institute of Management) by Prof Ch V V S N V Prasad (head, Department of Economics and Finance, BITS Pilani Goa, Prof Mahima Mishra (Professor at the Abu Dhabi School of Management), Clifford D’Costa (PhD Student at Goa Institute of Management) and Sankalp Naik (PhD student at BITS Pilani Goa Campus). The authors in this study investigate the relationship between a company’s ESG disclosures and valuation. The investigation delves into the moderating role of firm size on this relationship, utilising India’s NIFTY 200 index data from 2017 to 2022. Contrary to conventional beliefs, the findings unveil an unexpected pattern. Larger companies in India attenuate the connection between ESG disclosures and valuation.
