Junior scale officer exams rigged to select Patnekar’s son: Cong

Girish says will file complaint with Lokayukta

PANAJI
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar on Thursday alleged a scam in recruitment practices vis a vis government jobs, alleging that answer keys were rigged to favour Himanshu, son of Goa legislative assembly speaker Rajesh Patnekar, in the recently conducted exams for junior scale officers’ posts in the Goa government.

A complaint to the effect will be filed with the Goa Lokayukta, Chodankar also said.

Chodankar also said that there was a rate card for the auctioning of government jobs across categories, adding that only kin of BJP Ministers and office bearers appeared to do better than the rest of the talent in the State which applies for government vacancies.

“Himanshu Patnekar was ranked 14, but after the revision he came first in the exams. This mechanism is completely manipulated,” Chodankar said, alleging that the answer keys were rigged to ensure that Patnekar’s son could scale to the top of the list. The exams were conducted by the Goa Public Service Commission.

“It appears that son of Ministers of the and the party’s BJP office bearers always turned out to be more scholarly than the rest when it comes to results of such exams,” Chodankar said, adding that the National Students Union of India would be filing a complaint related to the alleged rigging in the junior scale exams with the Lokayukta.

“The Speaker’s son has topped now. The entire recruitment procedure is compromised and jobs are given to the highest bidder,” Chodankar said.

The state Congress president also read out what he claimed was a rate list for government jobs which were up for “auction” under the present regime.

A post of a police sub inspector cost between Rs 25 to Rs 35 lakh, lower divisional clerk posts for Rs 15 to Rs 20 lakh, constable posts for Rs 8 to Rs 10 lakh, technical posts for Rs 20 lakh and teaching jobs for Rs 15 lakh.

He also said that the comments made by Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar in a viral video, in which the latter had claimed that he does not take money for jobs unlike other MLAs, which Chodankar claimed meant that other MLAs were indeed “selling” government posts.  “Kavlekar says I do not take money for jobs. That proves that everyone else does,” Chodankar said.
