The state has paid the fees to 11 pleaders, including three Advocate-Generals from 2012 to 2016. Details obtained under RTI by social worker Bhimappa Gadad disclosed that senior advocate Fali S Nariman was paid the highest fees of Rs 2,60,30,000, followed by Mohan Katarki (Rs 2,41,58,828) and S S Javali (Rs 1,14,52,900). All three advocates are based in Delhi. Besides, fees paid to other lawyers include Anita Shenoy (Rs 1,04,37,085), Nishanth Patil (Rs 82,75,437), M B Zirali (Rs 80,49,499), Brijesh Kallappa (Rs 67,99,534), S C Sharma (Rs 41,05,500), Ravivarma Kumar (Rs 30.75 lakh), Kashi Vishveshwar (Rs 27,47,426) and S Vijayshankar (Rs 6.1 lakh). Besides the Rs 10.57 crore as professional fees to advocates, the Karnataka government also spent Rs 2,60,30,000 as administrative fees, the RTI details revealed.
