KA will be strengthened, not demolished: Gaude

Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude on Monday categorically stated that he had never made any statement about demolishing the Kala Academy building and further added that it would be strengthened. 

“Goa engineering college committee has given a primary report about the weakened structure of Kala Academy building. Now as per request from the Art and culture department, a second structural audit report about the Kala Academy from 

GSIDC will come by Sept 8. Based on the analysis of the report, a decision will be taken in a transperant matter,” said Gaude.   

Amidst news that Kala Academy building will be demolished there was criticism from a section of society. There was strong objection to demolish the heritage Kala Academy building.   

Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude clarified that the government has no such plans. “There is no proposal to demolish Kala 

Academy building. However, it needs to be strengthened because it has become weak,” Gaude told reporters.
