While Faleiro preferred to launch his campaign from the Muslim-dominated Rumdamol Housing board area of Navelim constituency, Digambar went about the campaign from Maruti mandir at Pedda-Khareband.
Both the leaders were accompanied by their supporters from their respective constituencies. Faleiro went door-to-door in the Housing Board area to drum up support for his candidature.
This is the first time that Faleiro has gone about his election campaign in right earnest, days after his candidature was cleared by the Party Central election committee headed by Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
On the other hand, Digambar had opened his election office last week after filing his nomination papers for
the Margao seat, in his bid to play innings from the constituency for the sixth time in
a row.
Meanwhile, BJP candidate for Margao constituency, Sharmad Pai Raiturkar started his election campaign by visiting door to door near Powerhouse and its surrounding areas on Sunday. He was accompanied by hundreds of BJP workers and local supporters of Margao constituency.
“There was overwhelming response. Madgaonkar’s wants change and I am positive of it , this time that the people will elect the
BJP candidate,’’ Raiturkar, the BJP candidate said after
his visit.
