MARGAO
With no sign of the return of their investments, a group of beleaguered investors of Kamaxi Forex on Wednesday made a fervent plea to the government to intervene and ensure the return their hard earned money at the earliest.
The investors also demanded that the government find out the number of properties Kamaxi Forex had purchased with their hard earned money and when the proprietor Nilesh Raikar would pay back their hard earned money.
The investors took out a candle light march near the office of Kamaxi Forex in the heart of the city here on Wednesday morning and raised slogans, demanding justice.
An investor, Jessuto Cardozo later told the media that the investors have come to protest peacefully since its now five years and seven months since a group of depositors and investors had lodged a complaint with the Margao police and the Economic Offenses Cell on April 18, 2016.
“Leave alone the return of our hard earned money, we have no idea the status of the investigations conducted by the Margao police and the Economic Offenses Cell. Neither the depositors have been updated on the status of the investigations nor any information is furnished to them on the fate of their investments,” he lamented.
He added: “We have no idea how many Civil cases have been filed in the court to recover the money from Kamaxi Forex. We also have no knowledge who are the lawyers appearing before the Courts.”
Saying that the senior citizen investors have been the worst sufferers as their hard earned money is blocked in Kamaxi Forex, he demanded that the government should intervene and bail out the depositors.
“We demand that the government find out the number of properties purchased by Kamaxi Forex and also tell us what action is being contemplated against Nilesh Raikar,” he said, wondering why is the government not proactive in getting their hard earned money back to them.
Another investor claimed that Nilesh Raikar has allegedly conveniently avoided returning back their money on the plea that he is first settling the claims filed by the depositors.
Another investor warned that they will be left with no option than to take the streets, including taking a morcha on the Assembly if their hard earned money is not returned immediately.
