PONDA: Kapil Naik was on Wednesday elected unopposed as sarpanch of Mollem Panchayat.
The post had fallen vacant since February 15, after former sarpanch Babu Zore resigned from the post.
A meeting to elect new sarpanch took place in the presence of returning officer from Block Development Office Ajeet Jog and Panchayat Secretary Amol Tendulkar.
All the seven panchas were present for the special meeting to elect the sarpanch. Panch Ramkrishna Gaonkar proposed the candidature of Kapil Naik and it was seconded by Babu Zore.
Speaking to media persons Kapil Naik said he would work for the betterment of the village by taking everyone into confidence while undertaking developmental works.
