Modi promised to bringing Rs 80 lakh crores of unaccounted cash stashed abroad back in 100 days. Because of his failure to bring back black money, Modi introduces this demonetisation scheme and instead took away everybody’s money. It has been more than 75 days. Does he have the legal right to control people’s money in a democratic country?”

Evoking the memories of the demolition of shanties in Vasco, working president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, Dinesh Gundo Rao, on Monday urged all Goans and those from other states residing in Goa to vote the BJP out and to elect a Congress government on February 4.
It may be recalled that last year, over 50 shanties at Baina beach in Vasco were razed on account of violation of the CRZ regulations.
Speaking at Congress House, Rao stated, “BJP government meted out inhuman treatment to the occupants of the shanties. Migrants who came to work here were badly affected… I plead with all Goans and people of other states residing here to vote this government out and elect a Congress government.”
Congress highlighted the failure of the BJP-led government to deliver on each and every assurance given since 2012 with Rao questioning the delivery of the BJP government at Centre and in Goa and said that February 4 will be a day of reckoning.
“Promising a lot and delivering nothing is typically what the BJP has been doing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has had two and half years at the centre. How many of his promises has he fulfilled?” Rao demanded adding that the BJP’s assurances are merely for the sake of securing votes.
Rao further listed some of the prominent poll promises of the BJP in Goa such as the unemployment allowance, housing for all, eradication of casinos and so on. “None of these have been fulfilled. Goa is a State with cross-influences and I plead with the people of Goa to vote this government out and bring Congress back to power.”
Referring to Modi’s promise of bringing Rs 80 lakh crores of unaccounted cash allegedly stashed abroad back in 100 days, Rao stated, “Because of his failure to bring back black money, Modi introduces this demonetisation scheme and instead took away everybody’s money. It has been more than 75 days. Does he have the legal right to control people’s money in a democratic country?”
He criticised the BJP government at the centre for opacity of the demonetisation exercise. “There is no account, no available information with the RBI on black money recovered or the benefits of the exercise,” Rao pointed out adding that all economists have termed it as ‘irrational.’
