Karnataka pushes for Kalsa-Bhandura project’s clearance

 Karnataka Minister for Water Resources Ramesh Jarkiholi on Wednesday met Union Minster for Jala Shakthi Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi to persuade the Centre to take up pending clearances for the implementation of the Kalsa-Bhandura water diversion project.Jarkiholi was accompanied by senior WRD officials from Karnataka, while Additional Secretary (Jala Shakthi) and other officials were also present.Jarkiholi said clearances to the Mekedatu project from various directorates in the Central Wate
r Commission, Krishna Water Dispute Tribunal Award should be notified in the gazette and the Upper Bhadra Project should be declared as a National Project.Speaking to media persons, Jarkiholi said the union minister has assured to take up the Kalsa-Bhandura water diversion project and implementation of other projects on priority basis.
