Alleging that the capping of rates for Covid admission in private hospitals as an “extortion” bid, the Aam Aadmi Party said the State government has got into the habit of blaming the people of Goa for everything to cover up its failure in managing the Covid crisis.“How do you expect a common Goan to get himself treated at such a high price? This capping rate is nothing but fixing of extortion rate,” said Rahul Mhambre, senior leader of AAP.“Goans are struggling to meet their daily needs
and these rates for hospital beds in private hospitals shows that the Sawant sarkar's intent is to loot common Goans. The government has absolutely no interest to stand with Goans in these difficult times,” he added. The senior AAP leader was addressing the media in Mapusa on Wednesday.Continuing, Mhambre said the government was arrogant and tried to shift the blame on the common man for its failures.“The CM is blaming innocent Goans only to hide the inefficiency of his government. If existing ambulances are not enough to ferry patients, can you blame Goans for this? If people are not getting tested in time is it intentional or lack of testing facilities?” he asked. He said AAP has already asked the health minister to tell the people of Goa about the arrangements being made to deal with the Covid.“Goans are not aware about whom to approach and how to approach. Emergency helplines are non-functional. People have to wait for over 10 hours to get an ambulance service. Why is there no system to provide details of ambulances available area wise?” Mhambre pointed out.He further said the AAP has been demanding to publish the hospital bed status on real time basis or at least in daily health bulletin for Goans for months now.Stating that the government has done nothing to increase testing facilities, AAP demanded increase of testing to 5000 per day.“The testing capacity of Goa is still what it was two months back. Worse of all, it goes down by 50 per cent on weekends,” the AAP leader disclosed.
