Canacona Police have booked a man from Karwar for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a woman on several occasions under the false promise of marriage.
According to the police, the woman (name withheld) stated in her complaint that between 2 July 2025 and 26 September 2025, Ankit Chauhan, a resident of Karwar, had forceful sexual relations with her multiple times after promising to marry her.
She further claimed that when she later asked him to fulfil his promise, he refused to marry her.
Canacona Police have registered a case against Ankit Chauhan under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is being carried out by Lady Police Sub-Inspector (LPSI) Anuradha Dessai of Canacona Police Station.
