Is there a cold war going on between Mapusa Municipal Council Chairperson Rohan Kavlekar and his colleague, Sandip Falari?
MAPUSA r rIf the debate on pay-parking on Friday was of any indication, the two appeared to gun for each other. At one point when a councillor suggested implementing pay parking along the Channekar lane, opposite Canara bank, the MMC chairperson said it could not be done as the place was uneven and GSUDA was supposed to develop the area. r“When GSUDA will start the work and when they will finish it, nobody knows,” Kavlekar snapped when one of the councillors questioned when GSUDA would complete its work. rNot the one to take things lying down, former chairperson Sandip Falari questioned the chairperson on what stopped him from collecting pay-parking fees from vehicle owners who continued to park their vehicles there. r“Don’t get excited. Parking is still going on along the Channekar lane despite ongoing work of GSUDA. No point in blaming any other agency,” retorted Falari, who incidentally is the Vice-Chairman of GSUDA. He said it was easy to find fault, but one must understand that a lot of funds from different agencies were used for development works in the city.
