Following the Congress stirring up the issue of the “open letter” maligning the name of TCP and Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar, that has been circulating on social media, the latter on Thursday asked the Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawant to investigate the “open letter” that slanders him.
One Puneet Gupta, a self-proclaimed realtor from Greater Kailash, New Delhi, and who claims to be owner-developer of land in Goa, is recorded as the complainant in the open letter-complaint which is addressed to the Prime Minister’s Office and copies marked to Goa Chief Minister, Enforcement Directorate, CBI and the Central Vigilance Commisioner. However, Kavelkar told The Goan that no person by that name has either sent a complaint to the CM, nor has he visited the Minister, the TCP office, or any of the offices of the TCP at the different talukas.
“I have asked the CM to investigate the matter seriously,” Kavlekar said. The open letter-complaint alleges that a ring linked to Kavlekar operates and controls the Town and Country Planning Department which he is in
charge of.
Kavelkar has defended himself saying that “Puneet Gupta” is a “fake identity” to “spread rumours on social media. The CM, he said, has taken note, and has agreed to investigate the matter.
The Deputy CM, formerly Leader of Opposition in the Congress, has put down the open-letter to frustration of realtors who have not been able to get land deals illegally after he took over as TCP Minister.
“I had decided right from the beginning that I need to study this dept thoroughly before taking any major decision. I have not even formulated TCP Board hurriedly, nor even cleared any proposal of land conversation. I have not hurried in doing all these, because my intentions were crystal clear. Due to this, no wonder dealers and agents who were dreaming to get deals cleared illegally, got frustrated, these people are now trying to damage the clean image of this government,” Kavlekar said.
