Keep casinos where they are: Mauvin

Dabolim MLA Mauvino Godinho on Thursday stated that off-shore casinos should continue to be in the Mandovi river near Panaji.

“The issue is being raised just because BJP had said at one point of time they would shift the off-shore casinos out of Panaji. I would rather say that they should continue to remain where they are, but care should be taken not to create any pollution,” said Godinho.
Allaying fears over a proposal to relocate off-shore casinos to the Zuari river near Cortalim, claimed that the issue was merely speculative.
“There is no proposal from the company concerned to anchor the off-shore casinos in the Zuari river near Chicalim, nor has the government taken any decision to relocate the casinos said Godinho, while briefing the media in the presence of Chicalim Sarpanch Prajoti Kudalkar and other panch members.
Stating that the sarpanch and other panch members of Chicalim panchayat were misguided on the casino issue, Godinho said: “The Panchayat and I will take a call after consulting not only villagers and the panchayat of Chicalim, but people of entire Dabolim constituency.”
