MARGAO
Saying that attempts are being made in certain quarters to disturb the peace and communal amity prevailing amongst the people of Goa, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday made a fervent plea to the people of Goa to sideline those hell bent in disturbing the peace and brotherhood.
Saying that Goa enjoys a rich tradition since the time of State’s Liberation in 1961 wherein the Hindus and Christians visit and greet each on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi and Christmas, the Chief Minister said no one should attempt to disturb the peace and amity amongst the Hindus, Christians and Muslims in the State.
“As we brace up to celebrate the Ganesh Chaturthi, our Christian brothers will visit the Hindu houses to exchange greetings. Similarly, during Christmas festival, Hindus will visit the homes of Christians. This has been our culture since 1961. No one should ever attempt to disturb this tradition and foment trouble,” he said.
