Kejriwal arrives to warm welcome, but whisked off by men-in-khaki

VASCO
AAP National Convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal arrived in the State to a rousing welcome by AAP volunteers in large numbers and people from different walks of life, as they donned blue caps and filled one area outside Dabolim airport on Tuesday afternoon.

However, their excitement turned to disappointment and anger as party leaders blamed the police for preventing Kejriwal from meeting the supporters on the pretext of Covid protocols.

A large number of AAP supporters and leaders like AAP State Convenor Rahul Mhambre and AAP State Vice President Pratima Coutinho waited for Kejriwal outside the airport.

Even children in traditional Goan attire were present to welcome the Delhi CM with flowers.

As soon as Kejriwal stepped out of the airport, he barely had time to wave out to supporters and was quickly escorted into a car, and along with Mhambre proceeded to Panaji.

Speaking to reporters at the site, AAP State Vice President Adv Pratima Coutinho said many volunteers, including children, had been waiting with great excitement to welcome Kejriwal to Goa.

“On the pretext of Covid protocols, the BJP government put him in a car and quickly moved him out of the airport. He was not even given a chance to lower his car windows,” said Coutinho.

“However, this same protocol was not applicable for the CZMP public hearing or for the mob which attacked us outside MLA Wilfred D’Sa’s house.”

“Goans should realise how low the BJP stooped by stopping us to meet our leader Kejriwal at the airport. This system is never applicable when BJP leaders arrive in the State,” Coutinho added.
