AAP National convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday joined the ‘Save Karapur’ protest at Azad Maidan, accusing the BJP government of favouring builders over Goans.
Kejriwal, accompanied by AAP Goa in-charge Atishi and State president Valmiki Naik, expressed solidarity with villagers opposing the Lodha project in Karapur. He warned that the proposed 1,800-flat complex would put pressure on Karapur’s resources and change the character of the village.
“Karapur is home to 2,000 families. How can thousands more be added without affecting land, water and the environment?” he asked.
The AAP leader accused the BJP government of allowing large projects at the cost of Goa’s land and environment.
“The BJP government is not protecting Goa’s interests. The only way to protect Goa is to remove the BJP from power,” he said.
