Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal skipped a scheduled event in South Goa on Friday due to what the party described as an “unforeseen medical situation”.
Kejriwal was scheduled to inaugurate the integrated VR Science Laboratory at Sacred Heart of Jesus School, Carmona, along with Delhi Opposition Leader Atishi and Benaulim MLA Capt Venzy Viegas. However, party sources said he developed a high fever suddenly.
The event went ahead with Atishi and Viegas inaugurating the facility in the presence of parish priest Fr Roland Carvalho, who manages the school, and headmistress Maria Anita Merces Gracias. The laboratory was funded through Viegas’ MLA scheme.
Atishi used the occasion to criticise Goan politicians for neglecting aided schools. “Many MLAs, Ministers and even Chief Ministers studied in aided schools. Yet none have invested their MLA funds to improve them. It is a shame,” she said.
Capt Viegas described the occasion as an emotional moment as he helped upgrade the school where he had studied.
