Undeterred over the frequent denial of their membership claims, a number of Mahajans of the Shri Keshav Devasthan have decided to fill membership forms to the Loliem-Polem Comunidade, when memberships will be opened in May.
This decision comes a day after demands by over 20 Mahajans of Shri Keshav Devasthan to seek membership and to participate in discussions at the Loliem-Polem Comunidade’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) sparked off tensions on Sunday, prompting the Comunidade committee to change the venue while the meeting was underway.
It may be noted that all existing members of Loliem-Polem Comunidade are also Mahajans of Shri Keshav Devasthan, but all Mahajans are not members of Loliem-Polem Comunidade.
Manoj Prabhugaonkar, a resident who has been spearheading the movement to ensure membership to all eligible villagers in the Loliem-Polem Comunidade, confirmed that eligible villagers, including Keshav Devasthan Mahajans, will fill up membership forms and submit them to the Loliem-Polem Comunidade along with proper documents.
“The membership drive will be opened up in May and we have been told that the membership will be opened during a month-long exercise,” said Prabhugaonkar.
According to Prabhugaonkar, all male adult Mahajans of Keshav Devasthan are eligible to seek membership and to be components of Loliem-Polem Comunidade.
According to sources, the Code of Comunidades states that membership forms from eligible applicants with documentary proofs are accepted and processed during the month of May.
The managing committee then decides on the acceptance or rejection of membership claims in accordance with the code of Comunidade on new members/components.
“Villagers and Mahajans of Keshav temple may approach the proper forums, even the court, if their membership forms are rejected by the Comunidade of Loliem-Polem,” added Prabhugaonkar.
