PANAJI
A day after Panaji MLA Babush Monseratte accused BJP karyakartas of working against him, Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho said some key leaders had indulged in anti-party activity during the polls and worked against him and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
Stating that he had proof of anti-party activities, Mauvin said he will ask BJP’s central leadership to take stern action against them.
“Action has to be taken against those involved in anti-party activities. I have personally suffered due to such activities during the election. They have even worked against Sawant”, he said.
“Some uncomfortable decisions will have to be taken to ensure that there is discipline in the party to ensure that the party grows further for years to come”, he said.
“If someone becomes over ambitious and spends the money made while running the government to overthrow others, it is not fair,” he lamented.
He said central BJP leaders were scheduled to arrive in Goa shortly and would finalise the party's legislative party chief, after listening to inputs from newly elected BJP MLAs.
"Central observers will discuss and take a decision and inform us. They will also take our views into consideration over whether a change (in leadership) is required or not required”, Godinho said.
"There is consensus among MLAs to have a good government, a government which is truly people-friendly and carries everybody together along with it," he said.
He however said that the BJP central leadership was looking to put in place a dispensation which provides a stable government over the next five years.
"They feel that if a certain decision is taken, there will be more stability, they are thinking in terms of having a stable government for the next five years," he said.
When asked to respond to differences of opinions among the new BJP MLAs over keeping the MGP and its MLAs at an arm’s length from the treasury benches, Godinho said: "There will be different opinions on some issues. That does not mean they are real differences. Everyone has an opinion. If everybody thought the same way, the world would be a different place altogether. There are varying opinions".
The final decision on the matter would be taken by the high command, he further said.
Even as the BJP's Goa election in-charge Devendra Fadnavis has said that the party was keen on taking the MGP and three independent candidates onboard in government formation efforts, party insiders claim that leaders like former CM and Ponda MLA Ravi Naik and Priol MLA Govind Gaude were against incorporating the MGP into the ruling dispensation.
