Outgoing Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Amit Patkar has questioned whether Congress is serious about fighting the 2027 Assembly election, alleging that senior leaders are not being taken into confidence on organisational matters.
While welcoming Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s Goa visit on Monday, Patkar said it was unfortunate that he was not informed and learnt about it through the media.
“It pains me that after giving my time and energy to build the party organisation over the last four years, senior leaders, including me, are not being taken into confidence about Kharge’s visit aimed at strengthening the organisation,” he said.
Patkar said the development had raised doubts over Congress’ seriousness about the upcoming elections, though he welcomed Kharge’s visit for organisational purposes.
Asked whether he had been deliberately kept in the dark, Patkar said he did not know, but reiterated that he learnt about the visit through the media.
Meanwhile, Patkar said Curchorem voters would reject three-time BJP MLA Nilesh Cabral for failing to provide basic amenities.
