Khaunte meets Baba Ramdev in Haridwar to develop yoga in Goa

Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte on Wednesday met yoga guru Baba Ramdev and chairman of Patanjali Ayurved Acharya Balkrishna in Haridwar and discussed ways of spreading yoga network in the State.

Baba Ramdev indicated that he was committed to extend full cooperation in promoting yoga in the State.

“Goa’s beaches will be meeting with river Ganga and this sangam of beaches and rivers will give different experience to the visitors in the State. Goa and Himalaya Sanskruti Sangam will give a divine experience to tourists,” Ramdev said.

The tourism minister launched the first direct flight from Mopa (Goa) to Dehradun (Uttarakhand) on Tuesday to give new direction in promoting tourism between sister states as part of Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi’s ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ plan.

On Wednesday, Khaunte met the yoga guru at Haridwar, the headquarters of Patanjali Ayurved Ltd, in bid to develop and spread yoga across the State.

During the talks, Baba Ramdev suggested implementing yoga itinerary in small hotels viz-a-vis yoga and wellness centres in starred hotels in the coastal State.

“Bharat is a land of saints. By starting yoga and adhyatma with panchkarma, the tourism sector will get a boost. The government’s decision to start direct air connectivity is a positive and historical step,” Ramdev said.

“Both the states should be proud of this initiative with PM’s vision of Dekho Apna Desh concept,” he added.

Earlier, the tourism minister met the chairman of Patanjali Ayurved Ltd, Acharya Balkrishna, to ostensibly discuss various opportunities with regards to development of yoga and wellness in the State.
