PERNEM
The Kiranpani-Aronda and Naibag-Satarda border check posts have been sealed from Friday till May 23 and no one will be allowed to pass through the check post regardless of whether they have an e-pass or a Covid negative certificate.

Police teams have been deployed at both check posts and Pernem Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi inspected both check posts and provided directives to the police.

When contacted, Pernem Deputy Collector Ravishankar Nipanikar confirmed that both border check posts at Kiranpani-Aronda and Naibag-Satarda would remain sealed till further orders and only the Patradevi border check post would be kept open for vehicles.

Pernem PI Jivba Dalvi said he had visited both the sealed check posts to take stock of the situation.

“The check posts will be kept closed till May 23 or until further notice. Entry into the State from Pernem taluka will be allowed only through the Patradevi check post and that too, with a Covid negative certificate," said PI Dalvi.

Incidentally, the closure of both border check posts at Kiranpani-Aronda and Naibag-Satarda would pose difficulties to residents in Pernem taluka and across the border.

There are many locals from Keri, Paliem, Kiranpani, Arambol and Tiracol in Pernem taluka who travel to Aronda, Shiroda via the Kiranpani-Aronda checkpost for work purposes and they will now have to travel an extra 20 kms via the Patradevi check post.
