Verna police have registered a case against a man from Kolhapur on charges of cheating a woman by having physical relations with her under the false promise of marriage over an extended period.
According to police, the offence took place between February 8, 2024, and June 1, 2025, in Cortalim. The accused, identified as Sudesh Patil from Kolhapur, is alleged to have befriended the complainant and taken her to various places in Cortalim. During this time, he promised to marry her and under this pretext had sexual relations with her through deceitful means. However, he later refused to go ahead with the marriage.
Based on the complaint filed by the victim, Verna police registered an offence under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The case is being investigated by PSI Pramila Fernandes of Verna Police Station, under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
