Goa Association of Resident Doctors (GARD) on Friday joined the nationwide protest in solidarity with their counterpart in Kolkata who was brutally attacked after the death of a patient.
The resident doctors protested at the Goa Medical College campus in Bambolim.
GARD President, Dr Veeresh HM, said they strongly condemn the attack on the doctor on duty at the NRS Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. He, however, said doctors will attend to emergency services at GMC. “How are doctors supposed to work in insecure, life-threatening and such dangerous environment?” Dr Veeresh questioned. Kolkata’s state-run NRS Hospital witnessed protests by doctors since Tuesday after the kin of a 75-year-old patient allegedly beat up a doctor after he died. The family alleged medical negligence.
An intern Paribaha Mukherjee suffered serious injury and was admitted in the ICU of the Institute of Neurosciences in Kolkata’s Park Circus area.
