Konkan Railway constables face probe over altercation at Margao station

Two police constables attached to the Konkan Railway Police Station have come under the scanner of citizens and senior police officials after they allegedly engaged in a verbal altercation that later escalated into a physical fight at Margao railway station.

The incident reportedly occurred after an on-duty constable intervened to separate two men from Maharashtra who were allegedly fighting on the railway platform in an inebriated state. Sources said that after the constable managed to defuse the situation, another constable ” who was off duty at the time ” arrived at the platform and allegedly picked up an argument with his colleague.

What began as a heated exchange of words soon escalated into a physical scuffle between the two policemen, sources added.

When contacted, Konkan Railway Police Station in-charge PI Vikram Naik said a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) has been directed to conduct an inquiry into the reported incident.

“Once the PSI submits his report, the same will be forwarded to senior police officials for necessary action,” PI Naik said.

On the alleged clash between the two constables, PI Naik said the exact sequence of events would become clear only after the PSI submits the inquiry report into whether the policemen were involved in a scuffle at the Margao railway station platform.
