The Goa unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has begun preparations for the upcoming Statehood Day celebrations, with Vice President of India C P Radhakrishnan expected to chair the official function during his visit on May 30.
Party leaders, at the core committee meeting on Tuesday, discussed arrangements for the official Statehood Day function. Sources said the VP is also scheduled to attend a function at the National Institute of Oceanography, besides participating in other engagements during his official visit to the State.
The meeting also reviewed preparations for International Yoga Day celebrations on June 21 and programs planned to mark 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre in the second week of June.
Party functionaries further discussed plans to convene a joint meeting of BJP MLAs and key party workers on May 30 or 31 as part of the organisation’s outreach and coordination efforts ahead of upcoming political and public events.
