Konkan Railway to run special trains to handle festive passenger rush in region

To cater to the increased passenger traffic, Konkan Railway will operate special trains in coordination with Central Railway and Western Railway during the Ganesh festival.

These trains service will run between Udhna Jn., Vishvamitri, Valsad, Vadodara Jn., Nagpur Jn., Mumbai Central, Mumbai CSMT, Lokmanya Tilak (T), Bandra (T), Diva, Panvel and  Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kudal, Sawantwadi Road, Madgaon Jn. and Thokur.

First aid posts have been set up at Mangaon, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Kudal and Sawantwadi Road stations in coordination with State Health Authorities from September 12 which will be manned by para-medical staff.

Medical Officers, Staff Nurse and Multi Purpose Health Workers will be available at Chiplun and Ratnagiri Health Units for any emergency.

Free health check-ups, health awareness and blood donation camps, along with medical booths for blood sugar and BP checks, will be available at major stations.

Ambulance services from government hospitals and empanelled hospitals will be available for emergencies.

On passenger facilities, KRC said all  food stalls have been advised to remain open during train arrival and departure to ensure adequate availability of meals and refreshments to meet passenger requirements. Special queue arrangements have been planned at booking offices.

Pre-printed UTS tickets are being arranged at Mangaon, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road  and Sawantwadi Road and PRS counters will also be utilized for issuing UTS tickets.

During heavy passenger rush, holding areas will be designated at Mangaon, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Kanakavali, Kudal & Sawantwadi Road.

Special ticket checking drives will be conducted at stations and trains to ensure smooth travel and prevent inconvenience to authorized passengers.

Special arrangements for crowd management have been made at stations and on trains to ensure smooth passenger flow and safe travel.

Adequate security arrangements have been made and CCTV’s will be closely monitored round-the-clock to ensure passenger safety..

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) will work in coordination with local police to ensure passenger safety.

Konkan Railway has appealed to all passengers to extend their cooperation in maintaining cleanliness and discipline so that the festive journey remains safe and comfortable for everyone.
