K'taka infra to divert Mhadei water should be demolished: Lobo

MAPUSA

Ports Minister Michael Lobo said that the infrastructure constructed by the Karnataka government to divert water from the Mhadei River should be demolished and the water should flow straight to Goa.

“The order of the tribunal is very clear. Karnataka government can take water only for drinking purposes. They should put a pipe, fix a pump and take the water. No diversion is allowed as they have done. The infra that has been built to divert water has to be demolished and the water has to come straight to Goa,” Lobo said.

He said what the Karnataka government has done was clearly a violation of Supreme Court order.

“We have filed a contempt petition in the SC. We will win the battle in the supreme court,” he added.
