K'taka man held for cheating with fake Facebook account

Agassaim police nabbed a Karnataka native on charges of cheating a resident of Curca to the tune of Rs 7,600 by creating a fake facebook account of another girl from Curca.

According to reports, the girl’s mother lodged a police complaint stating that the accused Kedar Hawal (20) allegedly created a fake Facebook account of the girl from Curca and used the fake profile to induce a person from Curca to transfer Rs 7,600 through two payments apps.

Acting on the complaint, an Agacaim police team arrested the accused at Khanapur-Karnataka under Section 66D of IT Act and Sections 419, 420 of IPC. The accused has been remanded to five days in police custody.

Agassaim PI Vijay Rane is conducting investigations under the supervision of Panaji SDPO Uttam Raut Dessai and SP North Utkrisht Prasoon.
