Two men on bike snatch woman's mangalsutra

MAPUSA

Two bike-borne miscreants snatched a mangalsutra worth Rs 1 lakh from a woman at Duler, Mapusa on Friday evening.

The incident happened at around 6 pm near the Landmark Supermarket in Duler.

Two persons in the guise of seeking an address snatched the mangalsutra worth Rs 1 lakh from the complainant Harshada Parab who was walking along the road.

According to police, two persons came on a two-wheeler and on the pretext of asking for an address showed a piece of paper to the complainant and in the process snatched the mangalsutra from her neck and fled.

One of the accused was wearing a helmet while the other had covered his face with a mask, police informed.

Interestingly, in a similar incident two bike borne miscreants had snatched a gold chain and a mangalsutra along the Mapusa-Assagao route in October.

In that case also the rider was wearing a helmet while the pillion rider wore a mask.

Mapusa Police have registered an offence under relevant sections against unknown persons and LPSI Vibha Volvoikar is investigating the case.
