In a major relief for commuters, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho flagged off a new Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) bus service connecting Bogmalo Beach and Vasco City. The service, launched in Bogmalo Village, aims to provide safe, reliable, and efficient public transport for both locals and tourists.
Speaking at the launch event, Godinho highlighted that this initiative fulfils a long-pending demand of the residents.
"A long-standing issue has finally been resolved. Another new bus will soon be added to the route to further ease travel for commuters," said Godinho.
The minister acknowledged that locals, especially women commuters, faced significant inconvenience due to the lack of proper transport options. While plans for this service were delayed due to COVID-19 restrictions and a shortage of buses, efforts were made to prioritise new routes as soon as buses became available.
Godinho also revealed that earlier, private bus operators had requested the government not to introduce a KTC service, promising to improve their operations. However, after a year of continued inconvenience to the residents, the need for a public bus service became urgent.
Residents have welcomed the new service and said the facility would make daily commuting more affordable and accessible.
