Three KTC EV buses have been launched along the Porvorim–Panaji and Porvorim–Mapusa routes.
Tourism Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte flagged off the two of the three KTC buses in the presence of Penha de Franca Sarpanch Swapnil Chodankar, Socorro sarpanch Soniya Pednekar, ZP member Kavita Naik, KTC Works Manager Roque Luis, Divisional Traffic Officer Andrew Pereira and panch members.
Speaking on this occasion, Khaunte said Porvorim has now become a satellite town and several institutions such as the high court, as well as government offices like the directorate of accounts, water resources department, directorate of education, Goa Board, etc. are located in Porvorim.
“Besides, a lot of residential complexes and commercial buildings are coming up in Porvorim. Some buses which were plying on the Porvorim–Panaji and Porvorim-Mapusa route had stopped operations,” said Khaunte.
“There had been growing demands from residents in Porvorim constituency, especially senior citizens who found it difficult to commute between Porvorim and Panaji as well as between Panaji and Mapusa. Since the last 8 months, I had been requesting the KTC to introduce new buses on these routes.”
Following my interactions with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and KTC Chairman Ulhas Tuenkar, KTC has provided 3 EV buses and this will fulfil the long-pending demands of residents.”
KTC Works Manager Roque Luis and Penha de Franca Sarpanch Swapnil Chodankar also spoke on the occasion.
