Santosh Kundaikar, who took charge as the new chief officer of the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC), appealed to people not to worry about any work in the absence of ward councillors and assured to carry out work in coordination with the administrator till a new council is elected.
Speaking to reporters, Kundaikar also the MMC would act tough on any illegalities in the municipality.
"I joined the MMC on Monday and took charge as chief officer. I want to appeal to people that there is nothing to worry and all works will be carried out smoothly. People need not fear about the council being dissolved and a new administrator and a new chief officer being appointed.”
“I will take up all works sincerely and I don't like to keep any files pending with me. All files will be cleared fast. I also want to appeal through the media that I will not allow any illegalities in the MMC’s jurisdiction. Any person indulging in any illegalities or encroachment should himself try and clear it because it will reduce the pressure on MMC," said Kundaikar.
