SANGUEM:
Prajyot Gaonkar, the Kurdi-Wadem sarpanch backed by the BJP, was on Tuesday voted out of office at a special meeting in the panchayat.
The special meeting followed the no-confidence motion moved by five of the seven panchayat members in the last week of November.
At a special meeting on Tuesday, Deputy Sarpanch Antoneta Nogueira, Jayashree Gaonkar, Avelina Vaz, Sahil Velip and Josephine Fernandes voted in favour of the motion while Sarpanch Prajyot Gaonkar and member Chandan Unandkar were absent for the meeting.
The no-confidence motion was filed against Gaonkar for his failure to take other members into confidence in the Panchayat.
Panchayat member Josephine Fernandes alleged the ousted sarpanch would not permit development works in the Panchayat area citing no funds.
Incidentally, this is the second sarpanch affiliated to BJP to be voted out of office during the last few months in Sanguem.
Earlier, the sarpanch of Uguem Panchayat Bharati Naik was voted out by office following a no-confidence motion passed by five of the seven members.
