Five Russians rescued from drowning on a single day

PANAJI: Drishti Marine today said their lifesavers have rescued five Russian women from drowning on Tuesday in two separate incidents along the North and South Goa beaches.

Lifesavers from Drishti Marine carried out two rescue operations at Candolim and Benaulim beaches, saving the tourists who had been caught in rip currents while swimming. This happened during Goa's peak tourist season, when foreign visitors flock to the state, said Drishti.

At Candolim beach, three Russian women, aged between 30 and 40, were swimming together when they got stuck in a rip current. Lifesaver Kartik Naik noticed the women struggling and quickly reached them with a rescue board, bringing them safely back to shore.

While at Benaulim beach, two older Russian women, aged 51 and 52, were pulled further into the sea by a rip current while swimming at Benaulim beach. Lifesaver Swapnil Farade used a rescue tube to bring the first woman to safety, while the second was rescued using a jetski by lifesavers Dasharath Sangodkar and Samit.

Drishti Marine has urged all beachgoers to stay cautious and follow the safety guidelines set by lifesavers to ensure their well-being during this busy tourist season.
