Lairai Devi devotees give 1-day ultimatum to Mapusa Police

MAPUSA

Devotees of Goddess Lairai Devi have issued a one-day ultimatum to the Mapusa Police to arrest the girl who posted offensive posts on social media regarding the Homkund ritual in Shirgao. If the police fail to do so, they have threatened to stage a protest at the police station on Saturday.

The police have registered an offence against the suspect for hurting the feelings of the devotees. However, despite the offence being registered, no arrest has been made to date.

While the police claim that investigations are underway, the girl’s mother insists that her daughter is a minor. Devotees refute this claim, stating that the girl has turned 18 and alleging that her mother is attempting to mislead the police.

Accusing the police of favouritism towards the girl and expressing dissatisfaction over the delay in her arrest, the devotees have issued a one-day ultimatum for the police to take action. If the girl is not arrested by then, they will march to the police station on Saturday.
