Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte informed the House that his department is in the process of reviewing the Land Revenue Code in order to streamline the process of partition of land and property thereby ensuring that partition cases are cleared within 90 days in a time-bound manner.
The Revenue Minister was responding to a question tabled by Nuvem MLA Wilfred D'Sa about the pendency of 336 partition cases in his constituency.
"We have streamlined the process for mutation and as a result, we managed to clear 6,700 mutation cases over last three months. Similarly, we are planning to review and amend the LRC to ensure that partition cases are also cleared by the deputy collector in a time-bound manner within 90 days time," Khaunte stated.
The Revenue Minister further pointed out that as per the Town and Country Planning department circular issued in February this year, partition is not permitted for land measuring under 225 sq mts. However, the lower limit set by Revenue department is 200 sq mts.
