MARGAO
In a bid to avert law and order problem, the Konkan Railway police station on Tuesday issued stern warnings to taxi operators, motorcycle and rickshaw pilots not to solicit customers alighting at the Margao railway station.
In fact, DySP Konkan Railway Police, Gurudas Kadam has told the operators to deploy their members with boards that taxi, rickshaw and motorcycle taxis are available at the nearby stands. “Under no circumstances, the operators should pull and solicit the train passengers to their vehicles,” he warned.
DySP Kadam further told the operators that the police would not tolerate any taxi or motorcycle, rickshaw taking passengers from in front of the Konkan Railway police station. “You have been allotted separate stands at the Margao railway station. But, we find many taxis, motorcycle and rickshaws come to the police station area to collect passengers. This will not be tolerated anymore,” he said.
The Konkan Railway police called for a meeting of the stakeholders after receiving a complaint that taxi pilots operating from the rear sides of the Margao railway station solicit passengers on the railway footbridge, a situation which has not been accepted by the operators operating in front of the Margao railway station.
