The suspense on who the new Chief Minister of Goa will be post the election results has grown even more intense with BJP now announcing it will all be decided on Monday evening but not naming the CM-elect.
Apart from the caretaker CM Pramod Sawant, his known detractor within the BJP, Vishwajit Rane continues to be in the race.
Rane's presence at the meeting to discuss government formation held post-midnight on Saturday-Sunday at the official residence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah has leant credibility to reports that he is a serious contender for the top job.
A third name that has cropped up is of Rajendra Arlekar said to be the choice of the party's ideological mentor, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Arlekar, who is currently the Governor of Himachal Pradesh is slated to arrive in Goa on Tuesday.
