Addressing media persons, AAP’s secretary Valmiki Naik brought to the fore the various advertisements and promotional material used by the BJP to distribute the bulbs using public money.
“As we have seen before, BJP uses govt machinery and wastes lakhs of public funds to organise their party functions for their party leaders. Similarly, in this scheme, the party always planned to use public funds to do election campaigning to counter the Aam Aadmi Party,” Naik told media persons.
“Leaflets for the LED scheme distributed showed only BJP politicians, karyakartas and Lotus symbol, and nothing about the electricity department. SMSes sent referred to it as a BJP scheme. Banners at function were held at private location organised by BJP mandals with lotus symbol,” Naik said.
The party also questioned why the Goa government was claiming the bulbs cast in the market ₹1,200 for three and that they will bring down electricity bills by half.
“Average savings are 14 units a month, how is it that the government is claiming savings of 50% a month even the most basic houses which are locked the year round get a bill of a minimum of 100 units,” Naik said.
“AAP challenges the State government to do a reverse scheme, and pay the consumer Rs 1,200 if they submit three LED bulbs. Aam Aadmi Party will provide 3 bulbs to the people for Rs 300, which is the real cost of these low-quality bulbs. Then let’s see the response to the scheme,” Naik said.
Demands ouster of tourism minister
PANAJI: The Aam Aadmi Party has demanded the sacking of Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar for his dual ‘crimes’ of the Serula land scam and the beach cleaning scam.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Aam Aadmi Party questioned Parulekar’s right to continue in office given that he is under scrutiny in two serious cases against him.
“The Tourism Minister Parulekar was being shielded by the Crime Branch by asking for more time to investigate the matter. The court, in October 2014, had directed the Crime Branch to complete the investigation within a month. And it is almost 2 years that this government and the Chief Minister (who is also the Home Minister) is shielding the corrupt minister,” AAP’s Bruno Fernandes charged.
In the case of the beach cleaning ‘scam’ the AAP has questioned how the beach cleaning contract jump by eight times from Rs 1.85 crore to Rs 14.70 crore, from the second to the third year.
“This Govt was elected on “Zero Tolerance towards corruption” promise, the above instances shows the intent of what it means to this government and the CM,” Fernandes said.
