A toy shop in the heart of Ponda city faced action from the Ponda Legal Metrology office for allegedly tampering with prices on the boxes.
Inspector of Legal Metrology Demu Mapari informed The Goan that the raid was conducted after his office had received a complaint from a customer.
"The complainant had bought some toys from this shop and had noticed that the shopkeeper had removed the printed price on the label of the manufacture and had replaced it with a new rate. During the raid, we also noticed this and confiscated around 30 toys," said Mapari.
"This is not acceptable and hence the action was initiated to confiscate the toys," he added.
Last week, the legal metrology had inspected around 45 fruit and vegetable vendors and had booked five cases for violation of legal metrology.
Since the last two months, the legal metrology office has raided many places in Ponda and Marcela, following complaints from public. They had raided a garment shop in Ponda city and had confiscated garments packed in boxes, with revised rates.
Last month, the office had raided five shops in Marcela and had seized goods worth Rs 70,000, while also seizing two digital weighing machines which were not renewed by shopkeepers.
