Legal recourse one of the options: Damu on new reservations

Says Vijai will be shown his place

MARGAO
Asserting the party will explore all options on the ward reservation issue, including taking legal recourse, BJP leader and Chairman of Vibrant Margao Damu Naik said the party will go to the people’s court with its organizational strength in both Margao and Fatorda.

He, however, said that the people of Fatorda will show Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai his place, irrespective of the ward reservations and the candidates in the fray.

“It’s a fact that most of the prominent faces fielded by Vibrant Margao have been affected by the ward reservations. Ward 11 which was never reserved for women for the last 30 years has been de-reserved in the latest exercise. We are in the process of assessing the situation. Party leaders from the city will soon meet to take stock of the situation and chalk out the future course of action,” Damu said, adding that the party will explore all options on the reservation issue.

Commenting on Fatorda, Damu said that the ward reservation will not have much bearing on the 11 municipal wards falling in Fatorda, saying the people had already decided to show the Fatorda MLA his place.

BJP Margao block president Rupesh Mahatme also said the party will take stock of the situation and chalk out its strategy.

He, however, said the BJP will go all out in the elections with its organizational machinery to seek the mandate of Madgavkars.
