MARGAO
With the ward reservations leaving son Prabhav high and dry, Margao BJP leader Bhai Naik on Tuesday evening suspected foul play in the ward reservations unveiled by the Director of Municipal Administration, demanding that the ruling party leadership and the High Command should expose the mischief behind the new exercise.
As a number of supporters assembled at his residence on Tuesday evening after news spread about Ward 22 being reserved for OBC ruling out Prabhav’s candidature, Bhai said he has no complaint against the party leadership or the High Command, saying the ward reservations is not the work of the party leadership.
“We abide by the verdict of the Supreme Court, but if you analyse the Director of Municipal Administration’s notification, it certainly calls for introspection. The notification has scuttled the plans of at least five BJP leaders from contesting the ensuing polls. This may be just a coincidence, but what has happened is bad,” Bhai said.
When asked whether any decision has been taken to field son Prabhav in any other ward, Bhai said no decision has been taken so far, adding that the party leadership will take a call on his son’s candidature. “Let me make clear we will go by the High Command’s decision. All I can say is that we are not happy with the DMA’s decision on the ward reservations,” he added.
Bhai demanded to know how come Ward 22 was reserved for the OBC, saying that by doing so, Prabhav has been ruled out of the fray. “There can be a big game. By reserving the seat for OBC, it has been ensured that we are automatically out,” he said, while asserting that this is not the work of the party leadership.
