The Marathe family was startled to find video footage of an unexpected visitor to their house at Chirewal-Honda in Sattari, when a leopard was seen moving in the house on the night of May 25.
The leopard did not cause any harm to the family, but locals have been terrorised by the presence of the leopard in the locality for the past many days.
According to locals, CCTV footage showed the leopard entering the house and moving around in a room, before leaving the house.
As word of this incident spread across the village, locals reported the matter to the forest department two days ago, but alleged that no action had been taken in the matter.
They claimed that about 15 days ago, the leopard had killed a dog in the locality. There are fears that the leopard could endanger lives and livestock in the village.
A number of wild animals like leopards and bison have strayed into villages in Sattari taluka in recent times and this has caused growing concern among people in these areas.
