Saying that no one can stop new parties such as the Trinamool Congress from entering the state’s electoral battlefield, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat on Saturday asserted that some leaders may leave the party, but the workers and party voter base do not go with the leaders.

He said the entry of new parties and the decision of the leaders to leave the party will in no way affect the prospects of the Congress party.

“The TMC has come to Goa and the JD-U may come tomorrow. No one can stop these parties from entering the state”, he told the media after participating in a Swachata programme at Aquem on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

He added: “I feel that Goans have already decided what they will do in 2022. People of Goa will think and decide what they want in 2022”.

When his attention was drawn to the exit of Luizinho Faleiro from the party, Kamat shot back “leaders may go, but workers and the voter base do not shift. Around 10-12 Congress MLAs had left the party, but Congress voter base is intact. The ensuing election will show the ground reality”.
