Liberation Day observed in Bicholim

BICHOLIM: Liberation Day was celebrated at government departments and various educational institutions in Bicholim on Monday.

The main programme was organised at Bicholim Municipal Council (BMC) office, where the national flag was hoisted by BMC Chairperson Satish Gaonkar. Chief Officer Shripad Arlekar, councillors, teachers and freedom fighters were present.

Liberation day was also observed at the office of Deputy Collector Bicholim, where Sakhali MLA Dr Pramod Sawant hoisted the national flag. Deputy Collector Mahadev Arondekar, Bicholim Mamlatdar Madhu Naik, DySP Ramesh Gaonkar, PI Narayan Chimulkar and fire brigade officials were present. Earlier, Shri Shantadurga HS, Our Lady of Grace HS and Radhakrishna HS observed the flag hoisting ceremony. Later, the students participated in the mass drill. Liberation Day was also celebrated at Ideal HS Pilgao. All the teachers and other staff members were present.
