Life Certificate camps held
SALIGAO: Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte conducted camps to facilitate the process of applying for life certificates in the three panchayats of Socorro, Salvador-do-Mundo and Penha-da-Franca.
Over 1000 applications were received and are being processed with the help of panchas and volunteers.
The camps are specifically targeted towards senior citizens, widows and disabled persons, who would have to stand in long queues and face hardships to get their life certificates.
Speaking to media persons, Khaunte said the purpose of the camps was to help people receive government services without inconvenience.
“The process of getting a life certificate is otherwise a tedious one which involves going to a gazetted officer and then submitting the form at Social Welfare Department. Senior citizens, widows and persons with disabilities find it very difficult to go through the process of applying for a life certificate, which is an important government document,” said Khaunte.
“Forms that have been collected will be submitted to the Department of Social Welfare by my office after verification,” added Khaunte.
