Life's circus! Presence of squatting migrants irks Margao residents

Group from Maharashtra claims to be in town to perform circus shows

MARGAO
The Madel area of the city witnessed an uproar on Monday after the locals objected to the presence of a large number of migrants squatting at the KTC bus stand and in the adjoining fields.

The migrants believed to have come from the neighbouring state of Maharashtra, claimed they were performing at a circus in the city.

The locals said that the migrants first made their presence felt at the KTC bus stand and upon their questioning, later shifted to the adjoining private fields.

“We have come across these migrants for the last few days. They have made the KTC bus stand a second home. When the locals again questioned them, they shifted back to the bus stand,” a local stated.

The Fatorda police deployed police personnel at the KTC bus stand as a precautionary measure.

An adult in the group of migrants, however, told the media that they hail from Maharashtra and have come to Margao to perform circus shows.
