Employees claim they were not at site during incident

SANGUEM

Linemen staged a protest outside the Electricity Department office in Sanguem after three department employees were suspended in connection with a recent electrocution incident at Xelpem, Sanguem.

The protesters opposed the suspension orders, claiming the action against their colleagues was unfair, and demanded immediate justice.

The protest was led by Goa Forward Party Youth President Meshu D’Costa, who held a sit-in outside the department office and demanded that the suspension orders be withdrawn.

During a meeting with Executive Engineer Uday Kudalkar, the protesters claimed that the three suspended employees were not present at the site when the incident occurred. They said the employees had been assigned duties at another location at the time and questioned the basis for their suspension.

They also raised concerns over a report submitted by Junior Engineer Akshay, questioning whether it had identified the three employees as responsible for the incident. The protesters argued that suspension should not have been ordered without written evidence proving their involvement.

D’Costa alleged that innocent employees were being held responsible for an incident in which they had no direct role. He demanded an impartial inquiry and immediate revocation of the suspension orders.

Officials assured the protesters that statements from all concerned employees were being recorded and that further action would be taken after reviewing the facts of the case. The matter remains under inquiry.
